Japanese Fast-Casual Burger Chain
GAMI BURGER
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA
Gami Burger is a playful sub‑brand of Origami Asian Grill by Chef Scott Ostrander, born from a recurring burger special that captured the imagination of friends, regulars, and eventually the wider community. What started as a late‑night indulgence at Origami grew into a local phenomenon — burgers so compelling they demanded their own identity. Gami Burger will channel that grassroots momentum into a focused, burger‑centric diner that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

Gami Burger
Brand Identity
We wanted to avoid diluting Origami’s refined identity. Gami is its own voice: louder, brighter, and a little bit cheeky. Visual cues draw from manga, neon, and retro diner iconography — saturated colors, energetic patterns, playful typography, and bold, graphic illustrations — while maintaining craft-forward cues (signature type treatments, tactile packaging, well‑designed plating) that nod to the parent restaurant’s culinary pedigree.

Gami Burger’s tone is friendly, slightly mischievous, and unapologetically delicious. It’s built to be a neighborhood go‑to for quick, satisfying meals and a destination for fans of Chef Ostrander who want to experience his flavors in a different, more casual context. By creating a distinct sub‑brand with its own look, voice, and operational focus, Gami Burger preserves Origami’s integrity while expanding the chef’s reach and celebrating a cult favorite turned full‑time concept.
Mural Installation
Jeremy Stanger — a lifelong painter based in Sacramento — brought the Gami Burger logo to life on the exterior with an electrifying palette that makes the whole block pop. Trained in the school of graffiti and honed over eight years as a decorative artist in New York City, Stanger treats painting as a tradesman’s craft, combining two decades of self-taught techniques into meticulous mural work. His murals balance bold, geometric letterforms and the rhythmic flow of natural materials, executed with the stamina and precision of a seasoned pro — the result is a confident, playful exterior that reads like high-energy Japanese pop art while remaining carefully planned and beautifully crafted.
